My Story

I began my journey creating hand-drawn cities and maps as a child. Ever since I was young I was entranced and fascinated with maps and cities. Some of my earliest works were detailed oblique perspectives of cities. In high school I attended the Savannah Arts Academy with a focus in architecture and visual art where I improved my drawing skills learning one and two-point perspective and elements of hand-drawn design.

In college I majored in Geography at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where I took classes in ArcGIS and Cartography graduating in 2006. I went onto complete a Masters of Arts in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a focus in Urban-Regional Analysis graduating in 2011.

Today I work as a Bicycle and Pedestrian Planner in Richmond, Virginia and work on illustrative hand-drawn maps and urban places in my free time. My signature piece, An Illustrative Map of Japan, was completed in 2020. My work employs a combination of my knowledge of visual art and geography.

In January of 2021 I began working on a new project: Europe An Illustrative Hand-drawn Map of a Continent. Since then I have logged in 267 hours of drawing time. The map is expected to be complete and prints on-sale in 2024.
